This section enlarges on the interest in architectural forms, already seen in the Cement Works paintings. It is noticeable that there is only one ‘historic’ building present – the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. Heffer is interested in what is built for the shapes the architectural forms offer as pictorial building blocks, not for any associations the buildings concerned may possess for the viewer.
